JACK HOUSTON AND THE NECRONAUTS

Jack Houston and the Necronauts is a traditional point & click graphic adventure game set in an Edgar Rice Burroughs/Frank Frazetta inspired sci-fi world of bubble helmets, rockets ‘n ray guns. You portray Jack Houston, a test pilot on the most deadly mission of his life, one that will soon become the greatest adventure human kind has ever known.

THE BEASTMEN OF VENUS

Jack’s adventure takes place not far from home, on our neighboring planet of Venus. But this isn’t the lifeless planet we know today, this Venus is a sweltering vine jungle teaming with strange creatures bristling with horn, tooth and claw. This is the Venus imagined by science fiction authors and artists in the first half of the century, the legacies of whom include John Carter of Mars, Carson of Venus, Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon and many more.

OVERLORDS OF VENUS

If the vile jungle beasts and devious plant life of Venus fail to overcome our hero, the rulers of this savage world will surely give Jack a run for his money.  These strange entities are able to inhabit the remains of any creature after death, fortifying and building upon their skeletal structures until they are virtually indestructible war machines with the superior intellect of a god.  With the tribal inhabitants of the entire planet under their crushing heel, The undead Venusian warlords threaten to pulverize Jack like an ant.  But our clever test pilot will uncover a shocking revelation about the origin of these “Necronauts,” a connection between these creatures and himself that could be their undoing… and his.

It's me, Stacy Davidson! Designer Guy!

Greetings, lovers of adventure!

My name is Stacy Davidson, and I’m the founder and lead designer at Warbird Games.  I wanted to take a moment here to introduce myself before I get into what we’re up to here.

So, “what’s Warbird Games,” you ask?

I’m glad you did!  Warbird Games is a Dallas area-based indie game studio that exists as a collection of artists of various breeds working both locally and remotely.  We each bring unique skills in the areas of game design, dramatic writing, traditional art, 3D animation, sculpting/molding, practical and visual motion picture effects, sound design, acting and vocal direction, and music composition and recording.

Since I am at the core of this team, I thought I would start by giving you a little background on myself.

“Okay, so who the heck is Stacy Davidson?!”

My love of computer games began when I was eight years old with the introduction of a TI-99/4A computer in the household. I learned Extended Basic and programmed my first game, a simple text adventured called The Quest where the player could pick up a sword and lantern, explore a swamp and castle, and little else! I later developed simple action and RPG games on my dual C64 & C128 systems and ran a local C64 gaming BBS. I played my first graphic adventure game on my 286, where I experienced Space Quest III and IV, King’s Quest V and VI, Conquest of Camelot and many more.
As I upgraded, I fell in love with games like Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Full Throttle, and finally the adventure game that convinced me that anything was possible in the genre: the beautiful and haunting sci-fi masterpiece The Dig.

As an avid gamer, I have owned a dozen game systems and even enjoy fixing up old arcade machines and collect boxes of arcade boards.

In my professional career, I spent a year in QA at Origin Systems/EA during their last days, published my own shareware game Shadow of the Lost Citadel, and have spent the last eleven years working in motion pictures as a producer, director, cinematographer, editor, sound designer and visual effects supervisor at my own studio, Odyssee Pictures.

Returning to games really feels like going back to my roots. I spent many years living and breathing games, and the prospect of designing multiple adventure games would be nothing short of a dream come true for me. To this end, I’ve now set my sites on the point ‘n click world, starting with my lifelong pet project idea Han Solo Adventures, a purely “for fun” fan-game idea I’ve been recently making a reality.

However, under the banner of Warbird Games, I’m looking forward to exploring original ideas in my neverending quest to recapture the glory days of Sierra On-Line and LucasArts, where mysteries were solved and legends were born one click at a time!
